Lafayette Studio is dedicated to creating a harmonious and pleasant place for artists to teach, learn and work. We serve as a space for professional artists to teach independently, for art students to expand their knowledge and abilities at their own pace, and a place for working artists at all levels to work and build a community.

As part of our mission, we offer classes taught by our professional faculty/associates on a quarterly basis. These artists are independent and have long experience teaching college and adult art subjects. You can read about them on our Faculty page.

To view our current and upcoming classes, click the class schedule tab above. We also offer our space to rent as a central location for private artist groups, art instructors and art workshops.

Our new location is between Lafayette and Walnut Creek at the 680/24 split, which makes it easy to commute locally or from out of town.

For information about renting the studio for your own group, contact Jody Mattison at 925-997-3315, leave a message at the studio 925-284-5143 or use the contact form below.

Artists who want a studio environment can become Locker Members , store some supplies at the studio and work there whenever there is not a class in session. Locker membership is $75 per month.

Lafayette Studio is sponsored by Lamorinda Arts Alliance, which also sponsors the Lafayette Gallery and Moraga Art Gallery. We enthusiastically recommend that artists join the alliance; they offer a large community of local artists, monthly art talks and happenings, an informative newsletter and a yearly Open Studios in the Lamorinda/Walnut Creek area. To become a member of Lamorinda Arts Alliance, call Bill Klaproth at 925-376-0708 or visit http://www.laa4art.org/membership.html for the application form.
